Nicky Jam

Good times, bad times: this motto applies at the moment to no one more than Nicky Jam (real name Nick Rivera Caminero). It was only a few years ago that a highly talented artist suddenly found himself without a label and without a hit song. In his native Puerto Rico - the cradle of the reggaeton genre - no one was crowing about him anymore. With drugs, alcohol and wrong decisions, the 35-year-old had maneuvered himself into a complete dead end. But he found a way out: he moved to Medellin, Colombia, in 2010 without further ado, after having given a few concerts there. There he was welcomed with open arms and the songs he recorded in Colombia, "Tu primera vez", "Piensas en mi", "Curiosidad", "Juegos prohibidos" and namely "Voy a beber" became hits there. In addition, similar to Pitubll, he accumulated numerous guest appearances on albums by other reggaeton stars, even breaking Daddy Yankee's record. But this was all just a prelude - until the final breakthrough with the worldwide mega-hit "El Perdon" (with Enrique Iglesias), which also climbed to the top in Switzerland. In the Billboard Hot Latin Songs charts, the song stayed at the top for 26 consecutive weeks - longer than Shakira with "La Tortura." (The No. 1, however, is still held by his duet partner Enrique Iglesias with "Bailando"). At the same time, he hit with "Travesuras." In 2015, more hits followed with "Quiero estar contigo" and "Si tu no estas" (feat. De La Ghetto), and in 2016 he participated in "Como lo hacia yo" (Ken Y) and in the Latino remix version of "Cheap Thrills" (Sia). In January 2017, the single "El Amante" was released, herald of his Fénix album which followed shortly after.
