Around 300 participants swim through the ice-cold Limmat every year at the beginning of December, this year on 8 December 2024, to raise money for a good cause.

Since the year 2000, around 300 intrepid swimmers have plunged into the icy Limmat every year, only to emerge 111 cold metres later at the women's bath Stadthausquai. But what is the point of all this? What started out as fun among friends with about 65 participants has increasingly become a popular sports event in recent years. In addition, since 2011, one charitable organisation has been supported with the proceeds from the event.

Some people also claim that an ice-cold bath should be healthy and for this reason they take part in the "Santa Claus Swim". Anyway - the spectators are happy!
