With its two towers, the Grossmünster is the symbol of the city of Zurich. One of them is the Karlsturm, named after Charlemagne. Legend has it that Charlemagne discovered the tombs of Saints Felix and Regulus and ordered a church to be built on this site.

The Grossmünster is a former Augustinian canon monastery. It was built over the graves of the city's saints Felix and Regula and was the site of the first secondary school. According to legend, it was founded by Charlemagne. His statue stands on the southern tower, the Karlsturm. From the nave, 187 steps lead up to the viewing platform. The arduous climb is worth it: at the top, six large panoramic windows offer a wonderful view over the old town and the lake. The terraces are cordoned off for safety reasons.
